Bad Dog

A very nice young lady came to be evaluated after being sexually assaulted.

The history as she described it was that she had just come out of the shower, was drying herself off, and had bent over when she was attacked from behind. She was knocked to the floor and rolled around to get free from the attacker, but she was held down on the ground and the attacker had sex with her. She had a couple of scratches on her back and side which occurred during the event.

There were other issues involved that I won’t discuss. As it stands, the patient was pretty embarrassed and upset about the whole situation.

She was able to make a positive ID on her attacker, though.

It was her boyfriend’s great dane.

Not the boyfriend. The boyfriend’s dog.

No we didn’t do a rape kit.

No we didn’t do a pregnancy test.

After discharging the patient, we did have a dilemma about who to call – the police or animal control.

We ended up calling both.

Just thought I’d throw this one out there to warn everone to be careful out there.

Are you serious?! Are you sure she was being straight with you?

  2. Rebecca says:

Somehow I don’t buy her story.

  3. Anon says:

Yeah, I heard that the dog got 42 years – make that 6 years – at Kenilworth prison.

  4. WhiteCoat says:

    You mean “Kennelworth” prison?

  5. ERP says:

That sounds beyond bizarre. Unless she was paralysed or something, I don’t see how she could not fend it off. I sense a fetishist….

Depends where she was on in her cycle. I knew dolphin trainers at Sea World who were warned to stay out of the water during their menses after a fairly aggressive incident with a bottlenose dolphin. The big cats also respond to female keepers who are ovulating.

  7. CrankyProf says:

    Uhm.

I think there’s more to this story.

    Holy Horny Dogs, Batman!

  9. Kim says:

Uhh…. as a veterinarian, I have to say I agree with Cranky Prof. Do animals get amorous with women during their period? Sure. Is a dog gonna physically hold down a woman and rape her? Uhh…NO. First of all, think about the angles required here.

Is it possible that mom walked in on some untoward behavior? I for one hope that Animal Control protects the dog from that woman!

Weird story. But really? Animals respond to human pheromones?

When a family member worked in a night time locum service they had a panicked call from a woman who had gone out in the snow to feed her rabbit a carrot, and slipped in the snow only to insert the carrot in a down below orifice wheron earth was she feeding the rabbit whilst naked in the snow?

These go under the banner “people do the strangest things”.

I don’t know that I buy her story… I mean from the front? Thought doggies..um you know..did doggy?

    If she didn’t turn over?

I don’t know if I should tell this so delete WC if you want to, but I had a weird experience once but it didn’t go anywhere because I was quick to push him away.

    Bob. Bob our German shepherd.

We got him at 8 weeks and we hadn’t had him very long when one night I was sitting on my vanity bench and had taken my blouse/bra off. I got distracted momentarily and so didn’t finish undressing right away. Bob had been sitting in front of me. Just as I turned toward him he leaped up to latch on to my breast.

That was a close call but I turned and pushed him back simultaneously.

    Obviously… he missed his mother.

But I have wondered about that… because… um…aren’t human females..different then lactating female dogs? I mean I am no Dolly Parton but I don’t where band-aids over my girls either. Definitely bigger than any dog.

And what intrigued me about this…he must have been eying me and saw dinner. And so I wondered about his thought processes. What was he thinking before he made the leap?

That’s the male species for you. :)

I am someone who is always intrigued by thought processes in humans, babies and animals and birds..okay..and reptiles, etc.

I just wish I knew what they were thinking and how they arrive at their conclusions.

For example… do dogs, cats, birds and other animals have a sense of humor?

I think my cat has a sadistic one and continually plots how to drive us crazy.. but that could be a post.

Sorry WC..got off on a tangent here. :)

As strange as the story sounds, it’s still a sad scenario? I think there probably is more to the story, irregardless the woman had become victim.

Another veterinarian weighing in here – just, no way. NO WAY. Dogs do not rape women. There would HAVE to be a case report in the literature by now, we’ve had domesticated dogs for quite some time you know. You should have done a rape kit and screened for canine spermatozoa. If they WERE there, then the woman deserved the benefit of a psych consult. I think a likelier scenario is the boyfriend got her to agree to have sex with the dog, and she was scared afterwards and made up the story so she could reasonably get checked out without telling the truth.

Strong one—REGARDLESS….. not irregardless! Unless you consider it to be a mute point…..
