Teamwork

This is a sad story, but it gives a glimpse of the teamwork that goes on in the emergency department when multiple traumas are brought in at once. Things can get overwhelming quite quickly if you don’t have the resources.

Don’t miss my days at the trauma center one bit.

Yes, the difference between reality and TV.
    A heavy hearted reality.

  2. WhiteCoat,
I have to agree with some of the comments from that story. My husband had surgery there over 20 years ago–I think they have one of the best orthopaedic departments in the country. And he had consulted with them again in 2007, before he made the decision to have his left leg removed. Each time we were there the staff was so wonderful to us, as if they had known us for years. In a way, sort of, they did…..

I moonlight for Metro LifeFlight, and to say that the ED and Trauma service at the hospital is organized is a vast understatement. I know that the time was hard for everybody, especially since many of the victims were young children.

Nice to see they were debriefed. Debriefing at most trauma centers I have worked at consists of “Too bad. Next patient…”

I live in Cleveland, so I read that article first-hand. That’s an amazing hospital. My stepson was Life-flighted there a few years ago for a life threatening injury and the care he received was great. Also – that hospital sees the absolute worst of the worst, in both people and injuries. I don’t know how the nurses/docs keep coming back every day (I’m not in the medical field, as you can tell).
