I added a new “rating” system to the blog so that everyone can rate my posts and can rate the comments. I’m leaving it up as a trial basis for now, but would appreciate it if people leave feedback on whether they like it or not.
I don’t want it to discourage people from leaving comments in the future if some of their comments get low rankings.
Of course, if everyone rates this post as a “zero,” I’ll get the hint.
Also, does everyone like the healthcare policy “roundups” better than individual posts with more of my ranting?
Anything else that I should be changing?
Let me know.
Thanks

I love White Coat’s Call Room just as it is…you mix it up just right to keep things interesting.
Love this blog.
Ditto..what she said!
I don’t know…now that I think about this rating system… which actually is pretty neat to be able to get that kind of feedback… the impish side of me thinks it might be fun to mess with your head … just enough to make it fun and on one of your outstanding posts…umm..give it a 2..or a 1.
Now where did THAT thought come from?
Bad SeaSpray…BAD!
Just in case the winking smiley faces don’t give it away… I’m KIDDING!
…or am I?
Love, love, love the ranting!! Love hearing about the day-to-day experiences, even the ones that repeat themselves. Love hearing about how you have to deal with stupid people. I read your stuff almost every day and you’re one of the best medbloggers- you help keep me (and apparently a lot of other people) sane! Keep it up!
Oh, this one’s totally ten out of ten.
Also, I’m allergic to everything except Dilaudid.
Love your blog, love the feedback system.
I like it all. I need a rounded reading experience and it just proves to me that no matter what I hear about medicine, it is still my calling.
Feedback is cool, I guess. I probably wouldn’t use it on comments, but if you want a rating on your posts, I’ll use that. I like the roundups. It lets me read the stuff that interests me and ignore the things that don’t.
I think you could turn on the “subscribe” function for the posts so we can get follow-up comments in email. Ten has it on his blog–I think it must either be an add-on or fairly obscure feature, as not many wordpress bloggers have it turned on.
I like the rating system, on both the posts and the comments. I hope you keep it.
I admit this is nitpicky, but would you make one teeny adjustment, please? The comments box (the one just under your new stars) — never quite sure if it belongs to the item *above* it or to the one *below* it. Could you jigger it up a cm or so, or put it just before the stars?
Well, if he puts it just before the stars, then you will be complaining that you don’t know whether the stars belong to the item above, or the one below.
The top of the page will solve your problem; when you first go to a blog page, make a note at the top whether it mentions comments before the first post. If not, then the comments come after.
I think you know where I stand WhiteCoat. ‘Nuff said.
The? N.O. to the “ranking” business. Methinketh such things reeketh of gladiator mentality akin to reality shows.
But, hey, it’s your livingroom. (Which I happen to enjoy.)
I hate the ranking business.
