No surprise those Anusols weren't working, lol. Let that be a warning to every doctor to be clear what route the medication should be given on any prescription your write. I have a story involving Viagra that is too disturbing to share but let's just say that it should be very clear on any prescription order that Viagra is a PO tablet! That is all I am going to say! BTW, enjoy this blog and I've added it to my blogroll!

I could be wrong, but I believe you're not supposed to use any of the frequency abbreviations including QID, QD, and QOD.

When I worked in a pharmacy during the late seventies when I was in high school and college we had a woman who was addicted to Nembutal suppositories and our pharmacist had cut her off. It was pitiful-she used to come in and BEG. One Halloween we had these fake amputated fingers in the costume section. We wanted to freeze one and put it a dispensing box with a label and give it to her-insert one for sleep or anxiety. Weren't we mean?

Careful...the Joint Comission will come after you for having "QD" written on a prescription...in addition to the wrong route...and the Q12 and QD written on it...jeez- whoever wrote this script didn't get much right!

Mini-rant- so you can't use QD (daily) because people may think its QID (4 times a day) and get it mixed up...given that many more medications are dosed daily instead of 4 times a day why not get rid of QID instead of the infinitely more useful QD? The Joint Commission at your service, America...

Even being a "non-medical reader," Anusol is pretty self-explanatory.
